What does “body positivity” mean to you? How has your body image changed over time? How does your body image play a role in your identity or even in your daily life?

Body positivity means to live healthy instead of merely looking healthy. I was lean and muscular before my labrum injury two years ago. After the injury, I was quite devastated and avoided many kinds of sports, leading to significant muscle loss. My body image played quite a significant role before my injury. I would say the majority of my confidence derived from it. However, after my injury, I figured out that the main purpose of our bodies is to act as a vehicle to explore the world. Even though I am still working out, I eventually care way less how my body looks but the health condition of it.

How has body image affected your mental and emotional health? What’s something that helps you feel comfortable in your own skin?

Reminding myself the true purpose of my body.

Is there a specific message that you’d like to convey by participating in this project?

The world is too big for us to trap our mind within our body. Always remind ourselves the true purpose of our bodies.
