What does “body positivity” mean to you? How has your body image changed over time? How does your body image play a role in your identity or even in your daily life?

Body positivity is about embracing the human experience of existing and listening to our bodies’ needs and wants. When I was younger, I would become so upset whenever anyone commented on any discoloration but didn’t understand why. As I’ve gotten older, I’ve grown to feel blessed to live in my body and hope to inspire others to feel the same.

How has body image affected your mental and emotional health? What’s something that helps you feel comfortable in your own skin?

My body image changes depending on my current mental and emotional state. If I’m struggling mentally or emotionally, I find it more difficult to accept myself. Finding clothes that fit me perfectly makes me feel like Cinderella with her heels, and makes me feel beautiful.

How can we talk about our body image with our loved ones in a way that is supportive and helpful? How has the media influenced your body image?

I would suggest discouraging comments on others’ bodies. Let people live.

Is there a specific message that you’d like to convey by participating in this project?

I want to show people that beauty starts from accepting that we are all beautiful.
